Non-pensionable payments
If an officer carries out the duties of a higher rank for a period of time, they are normally eligible for acting up allowance or temporary salary once certain conditions are met.
One of the options for how an officer can be paid when doing higher duties, after 28 consecutive days, is to receive an honorarium. This is a non-pensionable payment in place of pensionable pay.
There is not a fixed rate for this honorarium. Instead, the police authority decides the value of the honorarium.
